is a Jenkintown artist who has been creating custom artwork since 1992. She works primarily in pen and ink and pastel. As a portrait artist, she is known for her pastel renderings of houses, children, and adults. Mrs. Cipolla has also created logos for organizations such as The Breathing Room Foundation and The Pro-Life Federation of Southeastern Pennsylvania. A member of Immaculate Conception parish in Jenkintown, Cipolla has created artwork for the parish and the school. Her most recent work is series of Christmas ornaments showing various images from the Church: the church bell tower (2005), the statue of Mary (2006), the image of the nativity (2007) and this year's ornament, an altar angel (2008). Mrs. Cipolla has been teaching her own art program, Art Workshop, at Immaculate Conception school since 1994. Her group of art students, in third grade and up, work weekly at perfecting their skills in drawing and painting. Students learn to critique their own work and develop their skills. Starting with the study of basic lines, students learn the principle of composition and value. In the beginning of the program, students work "eraser free." Art Workshop students have contributed and published their work in the church calendar and cookbook. As they progress from line to valued drawing, students delve into different mediums including acrylics on canvas, pen and ink, colored pencil and pastel. In 2006, the Art Workshop program was recognized by Today's Catholic Teacher with an Innovations in Education Award, for the group paintings Images of Mary and Christ Our Lord. This nation-wide contest recognized twelve Catholic schools with Art Workshop awarded top honors in the Catholic Identity category. Both works are hung in Immaculate Conception School, Jenkintown. Mrs. Cipolla also teaches art lessons from her Jenkintown home. |
